HeightControl Support

2 KB, 12 years ago, submitted by Lordician

This support add-on is a client as well as a server add-on.
It has some features that will enable certain vehicles to control their height like a helicopter.
The features:
Any player
- When mounting a vehicle with HC-support, the player will be notified with a bottomprint.
Players with client
- Press and hold your jump-key to give your vehicle a constant boost up (untill you let the key go).
- Press and hold your crouch-key to give your vehicle a constant boost down (untill you let the key go).
- /HChelp shows HC-controls
Players without client
- Repeatedly press jump key to ascend.
- /HChelp shows a link to this add-on and no-client HC-controls.
Misc.
- Vehicle creators can easily use this mod (more information below)

RTB vehicles using this:
- Jaydee's Vehicle_Apache
- Phydeoux's Vehicle_CivilianHeliPack
- Stratofortress' Vehicle_Blackhawk (HC support added by Marine24)
- Uxie's Vehicle_Aviator_Sub

Information regarding usage of this mod for modders:
Insert these lines in the datablock of your vehicle:

Code:
   //Heighcontrol parameters
heightcontrol= 1;      //Enables the heightcontrol support for this vehicle
   ascendVelocity= 1.00;   //The velocity it adds when a user presses/holds the jumpkey
   descendVelocity= -1.00;   //The velocity it extracts when a user presses/holds the jumpkey

And you succesfully added support for this add-on.

IMPORTANT:
Attention all add-on creators who use this mod.
I will soon update this with one of the most anticipated features:
Non-static Heightcontrol!
However, you might have to revise your datablocks to add a new line and adjust some values.
More information coming soon!

Important information:
Players don't have to have this mod too, though they will have less features.
Players who have this mod have access to the best features of this mod due to a client-sided script inside this add-on.
Sadly, i cannot do this otherwise.

Shadow The Hedgehog
uh this is useless.
Lordician
@Shadow, at this very moment, yes.
Just wait untill vehicles get released which use this add-on.
If i were you, i would download it just in case. ;P
Zantigo
Cool maybe some people (COUGH-BLACKHAWK CREATOR-COUGH) will use this!
Very nice. One point, though: by "certain vehicles," do you mean actual helicopters or flying things like planes as well?
Lordician
Certain vehicles as in, vehicles which use this mod. ;)
(They need to have the lines i state in their datablocks)
So can I put this in any chopper or vehicle that hovers?
And why do I have to DL then. Is the DL for the prefs?

Sorry for so many questions, it's just that you aren't that informing.

Edit-
Oh so the codes are just for scripters.
Lordician
@Friz, the code i stated is indead for content developers.
People who run a server with this should just act as if it is a normal server add-on (which it is. ;P)
Well what the heck. I might as well try it out.

And I'm not going to rate yet ether. So ?/5
Sonow
If your gonna use or rate this, get the Apache Attack Helicopter... or any aerial vehicle, I believe.

Blockland filmer
WTH I want to put this code in my apache but when it says "put this code in the datablocks" it just says [code] I mean litterally it doesn't have anything complicated it just says code please help
Lordician
Blockland Filmer,
The information with the three lines of code is meant for add-on creators.
The Apache already has been officially updated to work with this add-on, so redownload the Apache or update it and you should have it.
GLaDOS
Does it work only with vehicles, or does it work with bot-type vehicles, too?
If not, I suggest you make it work with bots as well.
Marine24
9/10 great work!

I just used the script in the description to make all the helicopters in my add-ons folder have this effect them.

Although, I get this glitch when I press the crouch button to go down, it keeps going down (and eventually through the bottom of the map) until I get out...
Lordician
I have heard of this glitch via the Blokland forums allready indeed.
I am currently investigating it and adding an extra security measure. ;)
Paper Mario
Planes should definetly support this. If they're correctly scripted, they'll land like a normal plane with this support.
LegoFig
3/5 cuze the old plane tooled helicopters were alot easyer to drive
Lordician
@LegoFig Trolol loL! xD

Seriously, you were on the other topic saying rubbish too.
I have no idea why you say that and you do not give any reason.

Apart from that, it looks like you don't know anything, but i can see straight through your lies.

Please, stop making a fool out of yourself.

justinlego001
On the vehicles like the civilian helicopters, what is the mod for opening the sliding doors? I saw it once on my friend's TDM. But what is the mod, please tell me!
Lordician
@justinlego001 I don't think those were the civilian helicopters.
I believe those don't have such animations.

And i wouldn't know which helicopter mod does.
Sorry mate.
