Events Set - Saving Variables

1 KB, 14 years ago, submitted by Truce

This is an expansion to the Variable/Conditional events created by Destiny and Chrono. It allows for saving and loading player and client variables to a .txt file located in your "config/server" folder. If you know what you're doing, you can change where these variables are saved to if you need to by looking in the script and editing $VSF::Path.

Please note that all of the variables will be saved to a single .txt, so you will NOT have a load of files spamming up your folder.

To save or load a variable, click on the Client option in the wrench events menu. You should see both saveVariable and loadVariable on the list. (Yes, they're output events.) Click the one you want and type in the name of the variable, and bam, it saves or loads.

Does this work with version 5 of variables? Also, in the next version, could you add support for saving and loading multiple vars with one event?
Heedicalking
How does this work? Does it save vars for if someone leaves the game they can reload? How would I make them save?

This is very useful O_o

This addon makes my blockland freeze instantly upon the menu window appearing.

Please fix it. People nag me to put this in my servers (and I don't blame them) but I obviously can't host with it crashing.

Please, please fix it.

When the server is shut down/re-opened it wont save the vars so....whats the point again?
Truce, this doesent work atall. If you test it with player events (onactivate>player>VCE-Modvariable>Test>add>6). Then you put a display brick in, THEN you use the event to save the variable. after that you comit suicide use a brick to load the variable click the display brick again and it doesent show up.

If you look in the txt file that it makes it saves blid player/client and the name of the Variable but not the value.
Celtic Wolf
Does this actually work, and if so, it only saves for each person right? Not everyone who uses it?
ARMORD RAPTER
I'm downloading every extension for VCE ever made.
TELEFATGUY
good tdm. you can save your idems and tht makes it alot easier! :D

TELEFATGUY, that is not what this does. It saves variables, not items. The variables go with Variable and Conditional events. Also to mention that this is broken anyways.

Let's see if i'm smart enough to use this.
