Medieval Chat

15 KB, 12 years ago, submitted by Demian

Before everyone starts whining for pics, would you rather read the exact same text as below from a small pixelated image? The word database consists of 1165 words majority of which are from Valve's Team Fortress 2. Some of the words are from random internet sites and some of them I made up myself. I will let the add-on speak for itself. Let's begin!

--The following text is copied straight from in-game chat--

Well meteth Blockland. This be a demonstration o' ye Medieval Chat add-on.

It dost exactly what thee wouldst expect it to. Mine Liege!

It automagically replaces everything said within ye chat with Aye verily Olde English.

Ye database from where ye word replacements art taken be not very large but it be still enow to add immersion.

Ye filter canst be enabled separately for band chat and canst be made to ignore set prefixes for Super Admins. Verily!

That way certain add-ons don't break. E'en so this add-on be not necessarily compatible with everything. Hum.

Lets try some random sentences that couldst be used within a roleplaying server.

Pray pardon, Oh mine Dionysus! Couldst that beautiful yellow glow cometh from ye golden brick? Ye myths were true! Anon!

Tally ho puttock! Cometh o'er hither so I canst beat ye nightsoil o' out o' ye!

Cutpurse! Thief! I have been robbed! Mine bullion be gone! Good sire!

Sayeth I, Sorry initiate our troop already hath a blademaster. Although if ye wit an ironsmith we dost wish one. Good sir!

Harketh! Patroller ahead lad I wilt follow soon enough.

Jakob

But i think you should add an ability to change what it does ingame, like replace i with kittens, so people are wondering why they keep saying kittens am hungry...
That would open up whole new realms, not just midevil, sci-fi-robo, super-spacepirate, zombie, it's unstoppable! that would be great...

This is Middle English;
Old English is so guttural it's german, and is spelled nowhere near the same. Still an amazing and funny add-on.
Broze
Ol' English, milord, ye dou not see thou beuaty?

Now make a Grammar add-on
Brickster
Fun fact:

In middle english such as this, "Y" is pronounced "th-", so "Ye" would actually be pronounced "The".
